PhotoWorks Rendering Contest

The PhotoWorks Rendering Contest is a monthly event that allows PhotoWorks users to compete against each other for prizes.   At the beginning of each month I'll post a new model for download at this website site.  You will have 25 days to download and complete a PhotoWorks rendering of the model.   All entries (images) submitted will be posted for a voting period of 5 days.  Voting will be done by site visitors and contest participants (please only vote once).  Once a winner has been selected, their image will be posted on the site's home page until the following month's contest has ended.  All winning images will remain in the "PhotoWorks Rendering Contest" winner's circle (look below) for one year.  Since the main purpose of the contest is learning, winners will be encouraged (but not required) to post their winning PhotoWorks/SolidWorks files and or settings for sharing with other contestants.   All contestants and winners will be given credit for their work.

Contest Eligibility:

The contest is open to anyone with access to SolidWorks and PhotoWorks or PhotoView 360 Software.  This includes SW/PW users, SW VAR's, SW employees and students.

Contest Rules:

1.) Contests will run monthly, each contestant must submit their entry by the "contest close" date posted for each contest (approx 25 days)

2.)Each contestant will be permitted to submit two entries per contest.  The entries must use the same PhotoWorks material settings and must be different views (ex: front view & back view)

3.)You are free to add anything else to the scene as long as the model provided is the main focus of the rendering.

4.)UPDATED: Slight model modifications will be permitted.  In order to achieve a more realistic rendering contestants will be permitted to create minor model modifications such as fillet adjustments, split lines, etc.  Please keep any model modifications to a minimum!

5.)Any combination of  materials and PhotoWorks settings can be used to achieve your rendering.

Contest Submissions:

Images for the contest should be in jpg format with a 200dpi setting and an image size of approx. 6" x 8" (resulting in a 1200 x 1600 image). This will allow me to create a thumbnail and  larger view image for voting.  Please specify which software you used to create your image (PhotoWorks or PhotoView 360).  All images should be submitted through this site using the link on the contact page or clicking submit image here.

Contest Voting:

All images will be posted for five days in which time any visitor to the site will be able to vote for their favorite (please vote only once).

No names will be posted with the submitted images for voting (images will be labeled image 1, image 2, etc.).

All winning images will be posted at the site and the author of the image will be given full credit for their work.

Contest Prizes:

Through the generosity of the SolidWorks User Group Network (www.swugn.org) there will be prizes available for the contest.  Each monthly winner will be awarded a prize.  Prizes will vary by month but may include such things as fleece jackets, hats, shirts, tote bags, etc
